The Star Wars Prequels rewritten by XenoEntity
Released to the Web on August 24th 2005
On a planet very, very close to you,
one entity was so disappointed by a story written for a vaunted franchise
that he turned to his own inner thoughts and reforged the story in his own style.
--- I said I would give you my rewrite for the prequels
and here it is in annotated outline form. It should be noted
here that I have some respect for what Lucas did with the
prequels since I know the writing, shooting and development
take years where certain weaknesses become more apparent and
other events and movies change the dynamics of thought.
--- Here are the central concepts I thought I would see
in the prequels before they came out: a war between clones which
involved clones of characters higher than soldiers and Darth
Vader emerging gradually during the nine months of pregnancy.
I've decided to mostly follow the flow of events laid by
Lucas since it is his story and my rewrite of his work, but
I will include more of a terrorism slant, deeper clone plots,
and a bit more of the "Living Force" idea which Lucas backed
away from.
WARNING: this completly spoils the prequels if you actually
haven't seen them. Episode 1 is short, Ep 2 is a bit long,
and Ep 3 is long enough to surprise you. So without further ado: Star Wars: Episode 1 - Phantasmal Forces
Already embroiled in a territorial dispute with Naboo,
the Trade Federation moves to full military blockade when
a Neimodian prince is assassinated and sensors capture a
Naboo royal guard ship leaving the system.
Darth Sidious further convinces them to occupy Naboo
in order to end the longer conflict and ensures them the
Galactic Senate will not fight such an action.
The Jedi try to intercede but are then accused of
attempted terrorism when their ship explodes inside the
hangar bay.
They escape to Naboo and meet Jar Jar whom saves them
from being killed when he accidently bumps them into the
sea. They then swim to the Gungan capital, meet their
leader, and then get to Theed palace.
At the palace, they resuce Amidala and her handmaidens.
They procede to the royal starship where Qui-Gon is attacked
by Darth Maul when the lights suddenly go out. Jar Jar
accidently flashes a bright light in theirs eyes saving
Qui-Gon from a lethal wound and letting them escape.
Damaged by attacks and saved by R2-D2, the group
decides to land on Tatooine to get repairs.
Anakin's story would unfold as it did in the movie.
Except that Jar Jar would be eating during the race and
the wrapper then would subtly fall onto one of Sebulba's
air intakes and help end his race.
They get to Coruscant and make their reports. Knowing
a potential Sith is on Naboo, the Jedi work with Palpatine
to get him elevated to Supreme Chancellor.
While this is happening, Qui-Gon takes Anakin and
Jar Jar to Dagobah where they get lessons in the Force,
the Living Force, and generally being a Jedi. Qui-Gon
has Anakin go into the Cave of Fear and he sees only
his mother and barriers. Qui-Gon pulls him out as the
ground quakes in reaction to Anakin's feelings. Jar Jar
comforts Anakin even as Qui-Gon whispers to Jar Jar that
he should stand by Anakin's side whenever he can.
They return to Coruscant and the Jedi Council takes up
Anakin's case and determine he shall not be taken as a
Padawan. Rebuffed, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan return to Naboo
with Anakin and Amidala while Palpatine works the Senate.
On Naboo, they contact the Gungans and get them to
fight the droid army while they attack the Palace.
The battle begins with fire from the droids failing
and even attacks from their space craft fail to pierce
the Gungan shields.
Maul faces off with the whole raiding party in the
hangar until they get to their ships and start firing
at him. Thereafter he fights Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon through
the core.
The ships launch and begin attacks on the still firing
Trade Federation carrier. The droid ground forces get
mostly decimated when another Jar Jar accident leads the
Gungans to loose their Boomers rolling down the hills
while protected by their energy shields.
The lightsaber battle rages into the energy barriers
and events follow the same movie path except that Obi-Wan
actually joins Qui-Gon then gets Force pushed by Maul
and has to stay behind a barrier. Qui-Gon then gets
stabbed.
At that exact moment, a Fambaa's shield generator
gets destroyed allowing the droid tanks to move in and
the space fire to start ripping into both forces.
In space, Anakin has joined the fight, slid into
the flight core and an angry R2-D2 starts firing torpedoes
randomly and blows up layers of internal armor. Trying
to get control, Anakin fires two torpedoes which impact
the now-exposed core and blow up the ship. It's last fire
though takes out most of the remaining droid units and
the Gungans are able to turn the tide.
Finally the barriers turn off and a vengeful Obi-Wan
takes on Maul. Eventually Obi-Wan delivers the fatal
blow and Maul falls down the shaft after being cut cleanly
in half.
Everyone celebrates the victory while mourning the loss
of life. The Jedi creamate Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan gets the
right to train Anakin.
The End.
Star Wars: Episode 2 - The Clone Wars
Background: It is 10 years later and Anakin has had limited
contact with Padme over that time as she transitioned from
queen to senator. Palpatine served 5 years as Supreme Chancellor
then retired and has now come back as a Secretary of State for
the newly elected Chancellor Geminos. Middle Rim wars have raged
as a proxy fight between the Republic and Separatists.
The Republic clone armies have grown ever since the Jedi ordered
the first batch to help defend against a Mandalorian assassin
squad which surfaced 10 years ago. Palpatine's people selected
Jango Fett since it was Republic money paying for the clones
and a captured Mandalorian was deemed the best choice.
2 years ago Anakin was able to go talk to Watto and got the
update on his mother joining the Lars family.
The assassination attempt against Senator Padme fails.
Obi-Wan and Anakin are assigned to guard Padme by the request
of Palpatine and Senator Jar Jar. The Jedi council assents even
as they prepare for a visit at the Jedi temple by Geminos.
A nighttime assassination attempt on Padme is thwarted.
The assassin is almost caught by Obi-Wan and Anakin in the skies
above Coruscant but is shot down by Jango's craft as it dives
in and then leaves. The only thing Obi-Wan and Anakin get is a
look at the craft.
Jar Jar implores Padme to return to Naboo and arranges transport.
Palpatine also gets Anakin assigned to protect her.
Obi-Wan sleuths around to find Jango's ship type and track it's
landing pad. There he finds soil which he analyzes and gets
several different hits including Kamino.
In the Naboo country area, Anakin professes the feelings
that Padme has sensed in his communications. Anakin shares his
vulnerabilities and belief that Padme is destined to be his wife.
He begins to have vivid dreams about his mothers' torture and
Padme gets closer to him while attempting to pull this from him.
Obi-Wan goes to Kamino. Talks with the cloners and is told
the Republic's projects are their first duty. He then talks to
Jango and is eventually attacked by Jango and Boba. The fight
is a draw until Obi-Wan gets hit from behind by force lightning
and falls towards the sea. Obi-Wan is able to avoid going under,
gets back into the city and is able to attach the homing
beacon onto Jango's craft. He destroys an electric gun droid
placed to make him think it was the cause of his fall.
Padme convinces Anakin to go to Tatooine with her to calm
his fears.
Supreme Chancellor Geminos goes to the Jedi Temple with most
of his Staff. Palpatine is left behind as a security measure.
Anakin gets to the Lars' homestead and then hunts the Tusken
raiders. He finds them and his mother; she dies in his arms and
he goes berserk and even carves up mountains in his anger.
The Jedi sense something is amiss and a few top-level Jedi
leave to meditate away from the masses. Yoda is called away
by Jar Jar to handle a problem with the Wookies.
Shortly thereafter a large bomb goes off and kills many of
the delegates and kills or injures scores of Jedi.
With the Supreme Chancellor and cabinet dead, the line of
succession leaves Palpatine back in charge. The Separatists
then declare war when they broadcast a holograph of Palpatine
shooting the Neimodian prince. Most call it a lie since
records imply Palpatine was on Coruscant. Count Dooku claims
that his tape is real and solid proof of Republic decay.
Anakin returns to the Lars' homestead. Unwilling to admit
or recognize the severity of his actions, Anakin breaks down
with Padme and proclaims only that:
"I destroyed everything! Anything... I could."
Thus avoiding describing the totality of slaughter.
Padme consoles him.
Believing Jango is meeting the Separatists, Obi-Wan follows
and gets into the fight above Geonosis. His starfighter is
damaged and crash lands on the planet. He survives and makes
the report to Anakin whom relays it to Coruscant. He updates
the Council on Jango and Yoda immediately flys to rectify
things with the cloners. Palpatine and the Jedi quickly move
to get the power to deploy the clone armies under Jedi
leadership and Jar Jar is played upon by all sides to make
it happen.
Obi-Wan is captured, talked to by Dooku and warned about the
influence of a Sith lord on the Senate. Anakin and Padme get
to Geonosis and are captured in the droid factory. While their
execution in the arena begins, the clone armies engage the
ships in orbit around Geonosis to cover the landing parties.
Battle in the arena goes off pretty much the same except
Jango puts up a stronger fight and is beheaded while attempting
to do the same to Mace Windu. Dooku collapses most of the arena
on the Jedi to cover his escape - the group of Jedi keep routes
clear for the transports.
Massive ground cannons clear escape routes for Separatist ships
as the ground war wages on with shielded Destroyer Droids holding
off several advances.
The battle in Dooku's dock goes the same way except Yoda
pulls Obi-Wan and Anakin away from the falling pillar and throws
his saber at Dooku - damaging one of Dooku's eyes. Dooku escapes.
In the aftermath, the Clone Wars begin in earnest as fleets
of the droid army launch everywhere. The Jedi are both leaders
and teachers to the troops in an attempt to ensure they haven't
been programmed any differently than they thought. Also in the
wake of the terrorist attack on the Temple, many parents reclaim
their children from Jedi custody while others demand a decentralized
system - many would-be Jedi are thus stymied in their development.
Driven by the war, Palpatine is able to negotiate more power for
himself and the Jedi. Anakin and Padme decide to wed since they
trust only each other in this new reality.
The End.
Star Wars: Episode 3 - Revenge of the Sith
It has been another 3 years of war. The animated Clone Wars have
occurred. Anakin and Obi-Wan have become the strongest Jedi duo in
the Republic. Anakin has been charged with attacking and destroying
forces on several worlds and killed thousands of enemy soldiers (and
237,091 droids). He's grown tired of killing for this cause when
he knows Padme awaits him. Anakin's last visit with her was 7 months
ago.
Under General Grievous' command, the Separatists have
reformed into a wedge driving in towards Coruscant coupled with
random attacks across the galaxy. In a bold move, Grievous brought
half the active Separatist forces to Coruscant and personally abducted
Palpatine.
Obi-Wan and Anakin are able to infiltrate the command ship and
get to Palpatine. There they fight against Dooku. Dooku knocks
Obi-Wan out and fights against Anakin. They stalemate until Palpatine
nudges Anakin to channel his anger and that Dooku is an obstacle
to his happiness with Padme. Anakin prevails and slices off one of
Dooku hands, takes his lightsaber, and holds him. Palpatine tells
Anakin to execute him for his crimes, avoiding the courts that let
the current Separatist leaders go free. Anakin isn't willing to do it,
suddenly Dooku's free hand rises and Obi-Wan's saber flys towards it.
Palpatine's voice rings in Anakin's ears and he kills Dooku while
Dooku and Palpatine look shocked. Afterwards, Palpatine gives a brief
lecture on Dark Side power and warns he may need to tap deeper if he
is to face Grievous. Anakin begins to breathe harder in anticipation.
Grievous feels a disturbance in the Force and sees Dooku dead.
He rushes to the area and is stopped by R2-D2 in the elevator. He
slices his way out and proceeds upwards until knocked down by the
listing of the ship from attacks. He runs back to the bridge to
rectify the situation. Some odd escape pods are launched.
Anakin gets Obi-Wan and Palpatine and they proceed as in the
movie to get captured by the droids and brought to the bridge.
Grievous escapes by blowing the bridge and escaping while
Anakin pilots the wreckage onto Coruscant. Obi-Wan can only
quip that he wished all his crash landings were so smooth.
Anakin secretly reunites with Padme and discovers she is
7 months pregnant. That night he has multiple future visions
from the Force and he focuses on Padme dying. Anakin devulges
this to Padme and talks about his mother and Padme reminds
him that his mother's situation could have been prevented if
he was there. Then consoles him by pointing out he's with
her now. His mind remains uneasy thinking about Padme, war and
his mother.
That night he goes to the opera and talks with Palpatine.
Palpatine eventually broaches the subject of Padme's
pregnancy, noting that Jar Jar and Padme are frequent
guests from his home planet and he has seen her hiding
the pregnancy for quite some time. Anakin confides his
vision to Palpatine who reassures him about Coruscant's
doctors, offers his own personal medical staff, and then
relates the Tale of Darth Plagueis as a testament to the
power of the Force to create and manipulate life.
Anakin is intrigued.
Palpatine then says he wants Anakin to sit on the Jedi
Council to help him both coordinate the end of the war
and regain power over the military when the war is
over.
The next day he goes to the Jedi temple for normal
briefings and then goes to the Council where Palpatine
makes his case. The Jedi Council agrees but deems
Anakin shall not be a Master. Anakin fumes, calms down,
and assumes his new position.
Obi-Wan explains the reason the Council let him in
as a double-agent and Anakin simply doesn't care for
political games and declares he'll tell the truth to
both sides. Obi-Wan agrees.
Anakin discusses his anxiety with Yoda and admits
to new visions. Yoda is quite unhelpful so Anakin goes
to the Jedi archives. Yoda had allowed him to look
at some restricted texts before and tries to go further
with it now that he's on the Council. He uses the fact
that he's on the Council and some Dark Side enhanced
suggestions to get the archivist to let him look at
restricted texts on visions and much later in the
night he takes a text on Darth Plagueis since he's tired.
The next day, several Jedi on Coruscant are missing.
One Jedi is arrested after attacking a marketplace and
killing one person who looks like him. This leads to
rampant public speculation about evil Jedi clones.
Several Jedi clones surface and cause devestation.
Palpatine calls an emergency war session
where it is rashly decided that most Jedi will leave
to directly oversee various planets to ease attempts
to locate and capture the clones. Only 7 Jedi
(Anakin, Obi-Wan, Yoda, Mace Windu, Kit Fisto, Shaak Ti
and the Archivist) remain on Coruscant since they are
so force-attuned and capable of defending themselves.
Younglings and Padawans are locked inside the temple.
Some clones are caught and violence ceases. The war
goes well for another few weeks when news is received
that Grievous leads an attack on Kashyyk - home of
the Wookies and the main Republic construction yards.
Yoda decides to go and the Council determines Obi-Wan
is the best match for Grievous. Anakin initially
objects but doesn't want to leave Padme so he agrees.
Palpatine calls upon Anakin at his home and relates
to him his fears about the balance of power. He tells
Anakin he believes the Jedi created the clones - as
they were the primary contractors with Kamino - and
tells him the truth about being a Sith. Anakin only
remembers feeling this aura on the command ship and
threatens Palpatine. He puts up no fight and says
only that he wants the truth out in the open to see
whether it is he or the Jedi with power on their
minds. He leaves saying he will stay in his office
and await Anakin's decision, and exits with the
revelation that he is Plagueis' only heir.
On Kashyyk, Yoda leads the Wookie defense force
while Obi-Wan scrambles through the forces to hit
Grievous at the back lines. Grievous expects him
and challenges him to a one-on-one duel to address
past grievances. Obi-Wan accepts though he doesn't
know what Grievous is talking about.
Grievous opens up with the four arm attack which
Obi-Wan deftly parries and quickly dispatches two arms.
Grievous then has a double-bladed saber thrown to
him and he shifts the other two to his feet and
begins a psychotic attack with the double-bladed
and various kicks where he turns the lightsabers
on and off at odd moments. Obi-Wan does well
against the double-blade but has to begin whirling
dervish attacks to fend off the leg attacks.
Obi-Wan finally manages to cut off one leg and
Force grab the other saber. Grievous jokes that as
long as he survives, his body can be fixed. Even
if only half of him remains. Obi-Wan looks at
Grievous: "You can't be Darth Maul. I killed you."
Grievous responds, "I used to be until I failed.
My master got to me in time and I eventually
became this!" With servo-balancing, Grievous continues
their fight from episode 1.
They stalemate until Obi-Wan forces Grievous
to balance on one end of his saber while blocking
a blow with the other. At this moment Obi-Wan
instinctively lights the other saber and it plunges
into Maul's life support. Slowly dying, Grievous asks
to die quickly and Obi-Wan grants that wish. Obi-Wan
then deals with the surrounding droid army as they
attack.
Anakin tells Mace Windu about Palpatine and Windu
assembles the Council on holograph. They decide to move
against Palpatine. Still dizzied, Anakin is implored to
stay and agrees once again. Mace Windu, Kit Fisto, and
Shaak Ti are the strike force.[Samuel L. Jackson, fishy
green guy you see killed in office scene, and red skinned
woman with zebra-like headress]
Agonized, Anakin runs to the archives and checks every
database for data on Plagueis and finds nothing indicating
the Jedi know his secrets. The Archivist challenges Anakin
for researching Dark Side literature at such a juncture.
They come to combat and Anakin leaves the Archivist with
a nasty concussion. Anakin pauses at the landing pad and
looks to Padme's apartment - and she looks to the Temple -
before leaving to ensure Palpatine remains alive.
The strike force had already landed and are met
by several Jedi clones. The Jedi try to Force Push them away
but they carry creatures which block the force. (Ysalmiri?)
The Jedi quickly find the clones were very well trained
in lightsaber combat by Dooku and Sidious. Eventually
the Jedi prevail but Shaak Ti and Kit Fisto are hampered
by saber cuts. They procede to Palpatine's chamber where
he records the threats of the Jedi to overthrow the
chancellor claiming he's a Sith. An explosion marks the
end of the taping as Darth Sidious comes in from a side
room.
Anakin lands and sees the dead clones but is
shocked once again when he sees a younger Obi-Wan
and Qui-Gon lying dead on the landing. Fearing the worst
fate for Palpatine, Anakin rushes in to protect him.
Sidious allows Palpatine to leave. Sidious taunts
the Jedi by saying their time is over. Even now cloned
Jedi seek to kill their counterparts and His clone controls
the Republic. He says former Jedi master Darth Plagueis
cloned a young prodigy from Naboo. They were kept away
from Jedi identification and each was trained in
statemanship, combat, and tactics - until they killed
Plagueis. And now the Sith shall rule once again.
Sidious attacks and kills Kit Fisto quickly. Shaak Ti
and Mace Windu put up a strong combined attack but Shaak
Ti stumbles and is killed during a flurry of attacks.
Mace Windu continues the assault and they fight to the
window and blow out the glass. Sidious tries Force
lightning which Windu turns back on him in a frying loop.
Anakin arrives and implores Windu to let him live. Windu
breaks the loop and prepares for the deathblow. Screaming
that Sidiuos is too dangerous, Windu brings his saber down
and Anakin parries under it with such a release of the
Force that Windu's saber breaks down, the blade disappears,
and Anakin's stroke mortally wounds Windu. Anakin cradles
him and promises Windu he won't turn to the Dark Side.
Windu dies. Anakin openly weeps. Sidious smiles before
slowly consoling him.
From his hospital bed, Sidious orders the capture and
arrest of all Jedi. The commanders across the galaxy try,
and many Jedi and their clones are killed or captured
when they resist; thinking the clones have turned to
Sith programming.
On Kashyyk, Yoda and Obi-Wan deal with a few troopers
and prepare to quickly leave since the droids are
nearly destroyed.
Sidious asks Anakin to lead a force to the Temple to
call back the Jedi and secure the young and the archives.
Sensing something was amiss, Padme had Jar Jar go to
the Temple to check up with Anakin so he's there- by the
will of the living Force - when the troops arrive. He
and the Archivist move to get as many younglings to
escape as they can. The Padawans are told to fight back
and feel the Dark Side emanating across Coruscant.
A few are killed, Anakin mostly knocks them out with
Force pushes but is utterly dazed and confused by events
so he only blankly notices the screams. Especially of the
Archivist he kills without even looking.
Jar Jar finds a thermal detonator and a few other items
kept by the Jedi as live training devices. While blocking
a door leading to escaping younglings, Jar Jar sees the
carnage and so blocks the troopers. Anakin is called to
talk to him and Jar Jar has most items stripped by
Force pulls. He is able to hold onto and turns on the thermal
detonator, turns his back, and seems to swallow it. Anakin
snaps back to near-normal and knows he can't disarm it
without touching it and Jar Jar holds his arms open; so
logically it must be in Jar Jar's stomach.
Anakin knows he can't escape the blast in time and
is engulfed in a flash of Padme dying during childbirth.
Screaming "Nnooooo!" he beheads Jar Jar. During his fall
the detonator falls out of Jar Jar's inner pocket and a
trooper turns it off while Anakin falls on his knees in
shock.
The shockwave in the Force ripples through the
galaxy helping to fell some Jedi still fighting.
Sidious goes to Anakin and trys to rouse him. He
finally says that the war can end with one more act.
Grievous is dead and the Separatist leaders are holed
up on Mustafar. Anakin gathers himself with steely
resolve, convinced that the war must end so he can
be free to look after Padme and try to just live.
Bail Organa saw what happened at the Temple and
escapes. He picks up Yoda and Obi-Wan and updates
them on what he knows. Sidious has assumed the role
of Chancellor as a severly scarred victim of the
Jedi uprising. He calls a special session of the
Senate to proclaim the creation of the Empire.
Anakin tells Padme about the Temple and where he's
going and she gives her dialogue about him travelling
a path she can't follow. Anakin doesn't understand
but promises that peace will follow him back to her.
She can only break down in tears.
Yoda and Obi-Wan then infiltrate back into the Temple,
find a secret recording from Shaak Ti's communicator
revealing the dual Palpatine, determine Sidious is now
Chancellor, and believe Anakin is on the verge of
turning to the Dark Side. Yoda goes to confront Sidious
while Obi-Wan gets to Padme and she agrees to take
him to Anakin to help pull him away from the
encroaching darkness.
On Mustafar, Anakin tries to arrest the Separatists
but then slaughters them when they resist. He no
longer cares about killing those whom stand in his
way - if he could kill a friend, why not an enemy?
Yoda faces Sidious in the Senate chamber and loses
as in the movie. He escapes and starts to mull over
what has transpired. Sidious senses he should be
by Anakin's side and quickly leaves with Palpatine
to see their handiwork.
Obi-Wan and Padme arrive and Padme insists she
speak to Anakin before he even sees Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan
appears and angers Anakin when Obi-Wan calls him a
traitor. When Padme tries to intercede, Anakin
Force chokes her without even looking. Obi-Wan shouts
at him to stop and Anakin stops as soon as he
notices. He crawls to Padme and Obi-Wan checks her.
Arriving at Mustafar, Palpatine sees his
handiwork before he's choked by Sidious. Sidious
notes that Palpatine can no longer look the role
of Chancellor and that betrayal is the way of the
Sith. Palpatine's lifeless body is then consigned
to the lava.
Sidious joins the three at the landing pad and
again tells Anakin that he must embrace the Dark
Side of the Force in order to save his wife and
child. Obi-Wan begins an attack against
Sidious only to have Anakin parry it near Sidious'
face. Obi-Wan implores Anakin to destroy the evil
responsible for this war. As they fight, Obi-Wan
relates how Sidious was the Naboo assassin, how
Sidious and Plagueis got Jedi DNA, cloned them,
and trained them on Kamino. Damage to consoles
create errors which damage and fissure the
gates of the nearby lava dam.
As they fight on the dam, Obi-Wan
proclaims "You were the chosen one! Destined
to destroy the Sith, not join them!" To which
Sidious laughs, "Obi-Wan, the prophecy is that
the chosen one will bring balance to the force
and clearly the Jedi were too powerful! You've
also missed one important fact, Anakin was
created by Darth Plagueis to balance the light
and the dark."
The dam begins to break slowly apart. Obi-Wan
decides to take this moment to attack Sidious.
Sidious calls out to Anakin saying he is the only
hope for Padme. Anakin begins a deathmatch with
Obi-Wan but says he'll let Obi-Wan go if he
lays down his weapon. Obi-Wan retorts "The Sith
die here or I do!"
The dam starts to lose pieces and Anakin flings
Sidious before losing his footing. Obi-Wan and
Anakin get on hovercraft and duel down towards
the lava pool. Thirty feet up Obi-Wan somersaults
to the shore and Anakin tries to follow until a
piece of debris engulfs him and it falls into
the lava. Obi-Wan looks out with sorrow only to
hear a primal yell as Anakin rockets out of the
lava with his legs searing away and Obi-Wan
reflexively turns to the side and in a downward
swipe takes off Anakin's sword hand and legs.
Sensing Sidious is nearby already, Obi-Wan
leaves Anakin to be further burnt on the hot
sands. Sidious brings tendrils of lava up in
defense, bits of which further burn Anakin,
and Obi-Wan retreats.
Sidious summons his ship and medical droids.
Obi-Wan helps R2-D2 and C-3PO gently load
Padme into the ship and they leave.
On Coruscant, Anakin is rebuilt. At an
Alderaan outpost, Padme gives birth to twins
Luke and Leia, tells Obi-Wan there is still good
in Anakin and dies at the same moment Anakin does.
A jolt from a debrilator brings Anakin back to
life in his new suit. He asks Sidious about Padme
and is told the airway damage from gases on
Mustafar seemingly killed her. Sidious notes that
everything Anakin knew is dead and that he should
accept a new destiny as his apprentice. Silence
answers the question and Sidious calls out "Rise
Darth Vader!" even as Vader's primal cry shatters the
walls of the tower.
In the aftermath, Yoda and Obi-Wan are visited
by Qui-Gon's spirit. Qui-Gon discusses events and
explains the lessons he has learned from the
next life. They discuss the depth of the Sith plan
and their motivations. They learn most of the
captured Jedi died in custody from unexpected
attacks by "rogue" trade federation droid ships.
Yoda and Obi-Wan decide that the Jedi must vanish
until resistance builds to confront the Emperor.
Obi-Wan committs to watch over Luke, Bail Organa
takes Leia, and Yoda decides to try and establish
secret contacts with the few Jedi survivors
(full-fledged, younglings, and those removed after
the episode 2 terror attack) so that Jedi teachings
can remain clandestinely alive and evolve.
Close on the montage of Vader and Sidious eyeing
the Death Star, R2-D2 and C-3PO being given to
Captain Antilles, Leia on Alderaan, and then Owen
Lars taking Luke from Obi-Wan and see the setting
Tatooine suns.
The End.
Afterwords
- This ended up being more interesting than I thought. My quick
outline for this had Episode 3 being this weird run-around
involving Sifo Dias. Then upon reflection I determined that
in trying to redeem Jar Jar's position as a conduit to the
living force meant that Jar Jar would be involved in Anakin's
turn. So I put him at the Jedi tower and knew I wanted Anakin's
turn to be tragic - so Jar Jar had to die. This changed
everything so Sifo Dias was removed and I rewrote this into a
series of tragic choices and events driving Anakin to the Dark
Side. It keeps the technology and conflict of Lucas's script
but focuses it on characters in a logical fashion.
- Now here's the quick version of the trilogy if I hadn't
chosen to work from what Lucas wrote.
* Episode 1 - year 1 of the Clone Wars - straight up war
between the Republic and Sidious' army, mostly involving
clones, that would define Anakin as a hero and how he
related to the Force and other Jedi.
* Episode 2 - year 2 and Padme has just gotten pregnant -
Anakin fights to end the war ASAP, Jedi and other clones
show up on both sides making the situation extremely
paranoia-inducing. Anakin is asked to kill several Jedi clones.
He faces and kills a Sith lord but Sidious so outclasses him
that he envies such power.
* Episode 3 - year 3 and Padme is 6 months pregnant -
Anakin discovers a powerful Sith artifact which allows him
to stalemate Sidious. Sidious uses logic, deception, and Jedi
clones to seduce Anakin to the Dark Side. Anakin hunts the
Jedi in an attempt to turn them as well but ultimately is
forced into duels to the death. Anakin leads Sidious into
the heart of the Republic even as Obi-Wan secrets Padme
out. Sidious then takes control through clones and promises
to eradicate the clones he's created. The Republic acquieses.
Anakin goes after Obi-Wan at Coruscant's massive geothermal
volcano. They fight onto a catwalk where Obi-Wan slices it to
pieces and they both fall. Yoda saves Obi-Wan and Anakin
pulls down most of the internal structure during his fall.
Anakin takes a lava bath but gets onto the jagged metal
quickly and concentrates on stayin alive. Sidiuos rescues
Anakin and turns him into Darth Vader. Padme gives birth
to the twins and dies at that moment. The twins are
separated. The end.
- So really mine wouldn't be that good since it's more of
a story rather than the Space Opera formula which worked
for the original trilogy. What I did with the rewrite is
much better than my plain take. So there you have the
